A while back, I told you the next thing I'd send would be about integration. It's live now — the one idea this whole work stands on.
But I want to give you the heart of it here, in case you never make it to the video.
We wait for change to feel the way the retreat felt — big, bright, unmistakable. So when we land back home and the old life is still there, we decide it didn't work, and we start looking for the next big experience to feel it again.
The change was never going to be loud. It's quieter than that. It's already sitting in you, and it shows up as a gut feeling — the small nudge to take a different approach, to say the harder thing, to step back from what's draining you. That whisper you'd normally talk yourself out of? That is the integration. The experience only showed you the door. Following the whisper, week after week, is how you walk through it.
Here's what that looked like for me recently, so it isn't just a nice idea. Something went sideways in a business of mine — one that has nothing to do with any of this. A client, a mess, the kind of thing that used to make me defensive and sharp. Years ago I'd have argued my case. I'd have needed to be right. Instead I said: I'm sorry this went this way. Here's your refund. Whenever you're ready, we're here for you.
And that's the tell. Nothing about the plant diets, or the years of quiet work, is visible in a moment like that — it's just business, a world away from Peru. But it was all of it, showing up as the response I chose instead of the one I'd have reached for before. That's the whole thing. Integration isn't the insight you had. It's who you get to be the next time it's hard — in the part of your life that has nothing to do with where the work began.
